Green Tea vs. Green Coffee for Weight Loss – the #Titanic Tussle!!!

Green-Coffee-Bean1

You must be confused and bemused by the fact that there are ‘#HealthFads’ that seem to indicate that one kind of #food or #supplement is better than another kind for a particular #health #benefit!  Take #WeightLoss for example.

If you ask a #Nutrionist, she is most likely to opine that the key to #weightloss is a healthy diet and exercise. But they do concede that there are some amazing #superfoods that can deliver a boost. And taking pride of place here are not one, but two beverages! #GreenTea and #GreenCoffeeBean! The eternal question in this case is – which of these is more beneficial when you are trying to lose weight?

It’s the #phytochemical CGA or #chlorogenic #acid extracted from the #green #coffee #bean that is used to specifically #target #weight #loss. Its benefits are that it will:

Help restrict the #absorption of high #glucose foods

Act as a catalyst for #fat #oxidation

Release #fatty #acids from fat stores

#Burn hard to break down fat regions

Improve #lipid #metabolism

Increase your body’s metabolism.

Alternatively, GTC or green tea catechins provide you more with a gentle #detox from the rich supply of #anti-oxidants, which deliver the following benefits:

Help treat a wide range of #anti-inflammatory diseases

Help with the protection against certain cancers as they are #anti-carcinogenic

Eliminate lipid free radicals which may cause a little #weight loss

Round 1:

Green coffee seems to be ahead in the race!!! Let’s look at its benefits in greater detail-

Chlorogenic Acid (CGA)

It restricts the absorption of high glucose foods

When rich glucose carbs and fats enter the blood system through digestion they are very hard to break down. The green coffee beans chlorogenic acid prevents normal glucose volumes breaking down meaning they then pass on out of your system naturally. Thus it inhibits fat absorption and also stimulates the activation of fat metabolism in the liver, both major supporters of weight reduction. It is also believed to reduce the generation of new fat cells due to its superior anti-oxidant effects.

Releases fatty acids from fat stores by increasing your

Chlorogenic acid increases your current rate of metabolism as it has been clinically proven to increase fatty acid oxidation. It induces body fat loss by increasing body heat produced, thus promoting thermogenesis, the natural burning of fat for energy.

It stimulates fat absorption in the liver

By improving lipid metabolism, it lowers triglyceride levels in the liver. Simply put, Triglyceride is a mix of three different fatty acids and glycerol, all harmful to your health and contribute to weight gain.

Round 2:

Green Tea. On the other hand, Green tea benefits, studied in further detail, are quite different to the effect chlorogenic acid has on the digestion of high glucose foods and the build up of fat stores and glucose levels in the blood. It’s the catechins in green tea that are the anti-oxidants that have for some time been sought after by people pursuing health benefits.

Green Tea Catechins (GTC)

GTC anti-oxidant benefits

The scavenging effects of lipid free radicals or free radicals are one of GTC anti-oxidant qualities. By eliminating lipid-derived free radicals you are essentially healing your body and the flushing out of toxins will cause you to lose some weight in the process.

In fact, GTC are 50 times stronger than almost any other catechin extract as they are preserved much better in the green tea leaf than other plants.

Anti-carcinogen benefits

Green tea’s anti-carcinogenic qualities are intriguing. In recent studies as late as 2012, more compelling evidence supports the fact that GTC block the cell cycle of cancer cells, and inhibit certain cancers such as prostate #cancer.

Anti-inflammatory benefits

Most notably effective as an oral hygiene, its anti-inflammatory benefits may also help treat a wide range of inflammatory characteristics and diseases such as Type2 Diabetes.

Green tea should be taken between meals so the body is not deprived from absorbing all its iron minerals.

The catechins in green tea that are a herbal extract form the Camellia Sinensis – green tea leaves, are what is mostly present in the tea bag, which makes up a cup of specially modified green tea.

Some green teas may include Pu-erh tea extracts which increase blood circulation, White tea extracts that contain a polyphenol that helps keep your arteries healthy and vitamins and minerals from Oolong tea which provide a number of different health benefits.

And the Winner is…

Green coffee’s #chlorogenicacid and green #teacatechins display different synergistic qualities which are both essential for weight loss. However, looking at their key benefits, while green tea provides some crucial anti-oxidant, anti-carcinogenic and anti-inflammatory health benefits – if you want to just strictly lose weight, then #chlorogenic #acid derived from the #greencoffeebean is arguably the more comprehensive #supplement for burning fat stores. They may hold the key to effective weight loss without the pain of exercise and rigorous dieting.

It’s a no-brainer – Here are 30 ways to Eat your Way to Creativity!

nutrition_brain-e1382410453772

From ‘bored’ to ‘awesome’!!!

“I’m #bored” seems to be one of the most criminal ways to spend a precious, fleeting moment.  Don’t you agree?! While gathering the #energy to clean up the house, finally take painting lessons or write that novel might be too ambitious a task for a short weekend, that doesn’t mean our creative urges have to go unexplored. In fact, you can actually infuse some originality into mundane tasks, by getting in—and staying in—the #creative mood. Whether that’s singing and dancing while we clean the house if you think healthy, you can be truly #awesome!!!

You are what you #eat!!!

You-are-what-you-eat

Yes, it’s true!!! What we eat can affect our creative energies. Processed foods are called #junk foods for a reason. They need to be ‘junked’! This is because they are high in #transfats, sodium and sugar, plus artificial ingredients. They eat away our creativity. Those foods can leave us feeling uninspired, dazed and really bored, not to mention lethargic, sick and disease-prone.

Creative eating

These #healthy creativity-boosting foods are sure to inspire you to make every moment a living art project infused with brilliance, clarity and innovation. And go #organic!

Complex carbohydrates
They provide the brain a steady stream of glucose throughout the day. Complex carbs take longer to break down and can be better regulated by the body and the brain. Try the following foods:

 Essential fatty acids

They help our brains process and understand information, necessary for creative thinking and problem solving. Your diet shoul be rich in all of the omegas, as in these foods:

Antioxidants
Keep your cells healthy by protecting them from free radical damage. Antioxidants also boost our immunity, which can keep us from getting sick. These foods are known to be rich in many amazing antioxidants including vitamin C, E and beta carotene:

  • Berries
  • Citrus fruits
  • Dark leafy green vegetables
  •  Broccoli
  •  Beets
  • Yams
  • Squash
  • Chocolate
  • Wheatgrass
  • Spirulina
  • Maca
  • Ginseng
  • Bee pollen
  • Green tea
  • Tulsi Tea
  • And the 30th way is most important, and it’s not about eating…just Go away! Do you remember the last time you were actually “alone with your thoughts”? Just take time out for yourself…to digest all this food and you will find that you are a #powerhouse of creativity in everything that you do in life.
    Happiness!!!

Chia Seed your way to good health!

The latest super seed that has the health conscious screaming for more is the Chia Seed. These tiny seeds come from a flowering plant in the mint family that’s native to Mexico and Guatemala, and history suggests it was a very important food crop for the Aztecs, who prized it highly, believing it provided supernatural powers. The Chia Seed now sold as a nutty topping for yogurts and salads and used in cereals, energy bars, even pastas, is a different variety called Salvia Hispanics. This type of chia reportedly packs more alpha-linoleic acid and Omega-3 fat than flaxseeds, and also provides fiber, antioxidants and even some calcium and iron.

Chia Seeds have numerous health benefits, namely:

Lose Weight Without Starving:

The tiny, healthy seeds can be made to taste like whatever you want, and their unique gelling action keeps you feeling full for hours. When a Chia Seed is exposed to water, it forms a coating of gel, increasing its size and weight. Since the gel made of water, it has no calories. It’s also difficult to remove from the seed, meaning that it helps your body think it is full, without adding calories!

Balance Blood Sugar:

Keeping balanced levels of blood sugar is important for both health and energy. Blood sugar may spike after meals, especially if you eat high-starchy foods or sweets. This can lead to slumps in your day where you feel tired and out of energy. By balancing your blood sugar, you not only lower your risk for type 2 diabetes, but you also ensure steady, constant energy throughout your day. Both the gelling action of the seed, and it’s unique combination of soluble and insoluble fiber combine to slow down your body’s conversion of starches into sugars. If you eat Chia Seeds with a meal, they will help you turn your food into constant, steady energy rather than a series of ups and downs that wear you out.

Diverticulitis prevention:

With the abundance of over-processed foods and white flour available in the market today, rich sources of fiber are harder to come by. These foods of convenience have contributed to the rise of diverticulitis. Irregularity is a big factor in this risky condition. To help ensure regularity, you need plenty of soluble and insoluble fiber in your diet. If you don’t want to eat celery and whole-grain everything…or piles of bran flakes, the Chia Seed is here to help. Each seed is coated with soluble fibers which aid its gelling action. The exterior of the seed is protected by insoluble fiber. The insoluble fiber is unable to be digested (it does not contribute any calories, or break down) so instead, it helps keep food moving smoothly through the digestive process. Soluble fiber, and the gel coating of the seed keeps the colon hydrated and ensures the easy movement of food.

Omega 3 Oil:

Omega-3 oil is usually thought of as abundant in fish. But, what if you don’t want to eat fish every day? What if you’re a vegetarian, or simply worried about pollution adding harmful substances to your fish dinner? Chia Seeds are the richest plant-source of this healthy oil. By weight, chia contains more Omega 3 than salmon, and it still tastes like whatever you want! Omega 3 oil is important in heart and cholesterol health. It’s also recently been targeted as a weight-loss helper.

Energize yourself:

Feel more energized all day long. Don’t want to feel like taking an afternoon nap? Your energy levels have a lot to do with what you eat. Chia is one of nature’s highest plant-based sources of complete protein. Usually protein from items like peanut butter and some beans are incomplete, meaning you have to combine them with other foods to get the full benefit. Not Chia though – it’s protein is complete to raise your energy levels. The combination of complete protein, vitamins, minerals and blood-sugar balancing gel all work together to make sure you have steady, never jittery energy.

Bake with less fat:

Do you enjoy making baked goods at home, but hate all the butter and oil that has to go into them? Chia gel can substitute for half the butter in most recipes! The food will bake the same and taste the same (or better) from the addition of the chia gel. All you need to do is divide the amount of butter or oil in half, and then use the same amount of chia gel to fill in. The anti-oxidants in chia can even help keep the food tasting fresh longer. Everything from cookies to cakes to muffins, pancakes and waffles can be made with chia gel as your butter replacement.

Antioxidant properties:

Anti-oxidants have been in the news lately due to their super healthy benefits. You know that blueberries and several exotic fruits (that aren’t always in season) have them, but did you know that Chia Seeds are extremely high in anti-oxidants too? These helpful substances are what makes the Chia Seed stay fresh for so long. At room temperature, they’ll stay fresh and ready to eat for over two whole years! And that’s all without a single chemical or preservative. Anti-oxidants help prevent free-radical damage in your body. Free radicals lead to problematic conditions such as premature aging of the skin and inflammation of various tissues. Fight free radical damage by staying fresh and healthy with nature’s anti-oxidant powerhouse.

No more food cravings:

Being deficient in minerals or vitamins can create a craving for food. For example, if you’re low on calcium, you may feel compelled to eat lots of cheese and ice cream. This happens because your body knows that cheese is a source of calcium, and it hasn’t been getting enough. But what if dairy and whole milk are a “Diet don’t”? You can always add calcium to your food by sprinkling on the chia. By weight, Chia Seeds have more calcium than whole milk. It also has magnesium and boron, essential trace minerals used in the absorption of calcium and other vitamins. By balancing your vitamins and minerals with chia, you can curb cravings that might tempt you.

Adds extra flavor:

How can a seed with NO flavor help the foods you already like to taste better? Firstly, because they have no taste of their own, Chia Seeds will never cover up or add to the flavor of your food. Second, when the seeds hydrate, they magnify the taste of whatever they were added to. Put them in pudding and they become chocolatey! Swirl them into a smoothie and they are fruity! The same thing goes with dressings, dips, salsas, sauces and more. These two factors combine to let Chia Seeds take on the taste of whatever you add them to. They distribute and never dilute, the flavors you love.

Money saving:

Why should eating less cost you more? You already know diet pills are expensive, and if  you’re buying calorie counting packs or other individual portions in the store, you can also end up paying more because more preparation and materials go into these foods. You can use as much Chia or as little as you want to achieve your own desired results. There are no preparations required for these simple seeds, not even pesticides need to be used to grow them. They’re always safe and 100% chemical free. A measuring spoon is all you’ll need when you’re ready to take advantage of Chia Seeds for yourself. It doesn’t get any easier or more inexpensive.
