Celebrate Womanhood, the Natural Way!!

Women of the 21st century are independent, liberated and progressive than women from the previous era. They have been redefining gender roles and claiming more power to themselves in various walks of life. Women are proving that they could be leaders in all aspects, thereby demonstrating their potentials to the fullest. Although, what most of them have been missing in all this progress is a little care towards themselves and their own body. Between hectic work schedules and taking care of yourself, you probably already have plenty of reasons to pamper yourself and unwind.

So today on International Women’s Day, we are going to discuss 7 easy yet blissful ways to make you feel spoiled, overindulged and treated.

  1. Give Yourself a Foot Massage

Reflexology is an ancient alternative therapy believed to help you heal your body and your mind. The underlying methodology is that each area of your foot relates to a specific body part and by massaging your feet, you can positively impact the rest of your body. During the massage, you’ll be able to feel any cricks or burs under the skin. These are the areas you should focus on to improve your health.

And at the very least, a good foot massage will leave you with a pampered smile, because it just plain feels awesome.

It can also boost your mood, induce sleep, and relax your achy muscles. Bathing with essential oils is one of the most relaxing ways to attend to your ablutions, and is great for your skin.

Give in to the big, irresistible weekend breakfast smartly!

Living healthy does not mean cutting out your favorite foods, especially not on lazy weekends. Staying at home with the family or going out to happy brunches with friends over the weekend, makes it impossible to stick to just a soup and salad. Weekend breakfasts all over the world, especially on Sundays, are all about gluttony in excess! Idlis, Aloo Parathas, Waffles, Pancakes, Eggs, Hash Browns, French Toast, Milkshakes, Cold Cuts, Danish pastries, Donuts, Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches, Muffins et al are all the foods we try and avoid all week in a bid to live healthier, but when the weekend rolls around, it is really hard not to give in and live a little.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Just making small changes in your toppings, add-ons, cooking oils and portions can make your weekend indulgences feel lighter on your body, your inner health and your mind. Try these tricks on your next big weekend breakfast, at home or at a brunch.

MAPLE SYRUP V/S HONEY – Drizzling raw, organic honey on your blueberry buttermilk pancake stack is a healthier option than the staple maple syrup. Also, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches can be made with organic peanut butter and raw honey.

CINNAMON V/S ICING SUGAR – Sprinkling ground, organic cinnamon over your French toasts instead of icing sugar will help increase your metabolism and whittle down your waist. You can add cinnamon to hot coffees and teas too.

UNSALTED COLD CUTS – Eating cold cuts that are not pre-salted will not only taste better, but also not make you feel bloated with unnecessary water retention after your meal.

MILKSHAKES V/S FRESH JUICES – Milkshakes are awesome undeniably, but so are slow-pressed fresh fruit juices. Slow pressed juices retain a high percentage of the fruit’s nutritive values and are as good as eating the fruit itself. And whilst milkshakes fill you up with added sugar and milk, fruit juices don’t.

HALVING DONUTS / MUFFINS / DANISHES – Eating donuts, muffins and Danish pastries is heavenly, but halving all these delights will give you as much joy and satisfaction as having all of them whole. Isn’t that smarter?

COOKING MEDIUMS – If you are cooking at home, switch to healthier oils like Olive Oil, Organic Desi Ghee and Mustard Oil to minimizer the cholesterol level of the foods in the cooking process itself. Not only will your Parathas, Hash Browns and Idlis taste better, but will feel lighter on your digestive system too.

ORGANIC BUTTER V/S SALTED BUTTER – The main difference between organic butter and salted butter is shelf life – organic butter has a short shelf life and salted butter can stay in your fridge for weeks on. Organic butter is a smarter choice when making Waffles and Pancakes at home.

COOKING METHODS – Whenever possible, eating poached or boiled eggs is definitely healthier, but if you like your eggs sunny side up and scrambled, then organically farmed eggs is the way to go.

So it is quite simple really to shake off some of the bad calories with some organic, natural good on your plate. What’s life really without foods that taste so good, right? So, go on indulge yourself without any regrets!

  • CHAPPED LIPS AND UNDER EYE WRINKLES: Forget lip balms and under-eye creams and swap them with olive oil instead. This will get rid of chapped lips and reduce under-eye wrinkles. Rub a little bit of oil on your lips and leave it overnight. To reduce the wrinkles around your eyes, massage olive oil into the skin around your eyes. Make sure that you are very careful and apply it delicately around the eyes.
  • DRY SKIN and SUNBURN: For people with extremely dry skin, using virgin olive oil as a night cream can help moisturize it. Apply a little oil on your face at night and let it stay overnight. Your skin will feel soft and supple in the morning. The regenerative power of olive oil also helps in stimulating the process of skin healing. It can be used to soothe and heal skin irritations. The same property also helps in treating sunburn. Just apply olive oil on the affected area directly.
  • STRETCH MARKS: Say goodbye to those dreadful stretch marks on your body with olive oil. Olive oil helps the skin regenerate and increases the elasticity of the skin. This not only helps in preventing stretch marks from coming back but also helps in lightening the ones that are present. Start using olive oil for hot oil massage on the affected areas thrice a week and see the difference.
  • MAKE UP REMOVER: Remove makeup the natural way with olive oil. You don’t need to spend big bucks on buying fancy makeup removers. All you need is a bottle of olive oil. Olive oil will not sting your eyes and is not harsh on the skin, especially for people with sensitive skin.
  • ANTI-AGING: The antioxidants present in olive oil, hydroxytyrosol, along with the vitamin E, help in preventing cell degeneration in your skin, thus preventing premature aging. The squalene present in this oil helps in increasing the elasticity of the skin thus preventing sagging of skin and leaving it firm and toned with a youthful glow.
  • EXFOLIANT: If you are have very dry and flaky skin, mix olive oil and sea salt and massage it into the affected area to slough off dead skin and enrich the healthy layer beneath it.
  • SUNSCREEN: Olive oil not only helps in treating sunburns, it also works very well as a sunscreen. Mix equal quantities of olive oil and tea decoction (tea boiled in water and strained) and apply all over the body and face. Leave this on for an hour. Rinse, don’t wash, so that it leaves a residue on the skin. This will act as a natural sunscreen for your skin.
  • MASCARA: People with sensitive eyes and allergies to cosmetics around the eyes can’t use mascara but that is no reason to not have long, fluttering eyelashes. Just use an old mascara brush and apply olive oil on your lashes with it. This will result in longer and shinier eyelashes, without any side effects.
  • HAIR GROWTH AND SHINE: Olive oil when heated, provides deep conditioning for hair, that leads to a healthier scalp and more hair on your head. Olive oil, as part of a regular hair care regimen, can help your hair and scalp reach their healthiest potential. Make olive oil for hair growth a regular priority in your hair care and see it bounce and shine.
